Mahzun

Mahzun translates loosely as a tender melancholy — the kind of feeling that arrives at the end of a long Istanbul afternoon, when the muezzin's call moves across the rooftops.

Its bell-shaped silhouette holds bordeaux silk damask, hand-pleated in long, deliberate folds. The fringe, dark as wet earth, falls in a single, unbroken line.

Hung above a long dining table or in a quiet stairwell, Mahzun does not announce itself. It deepens the room.
